Brief

With Prestige and Landal, we set out to raise the standard of UK caravan and lodge accommodation. During the pandemic, many UK holidaymakers found that park accommodation was dated and unappealing.

We were asked to develop a range of stylish, high-quality lodges that meet UK caravan standards. Because they comply with these standards, parks can replace older units without a new planning application.

Response

Torp takes its name from the Swedish word for a summer house. It is a compact, bright, family-friendly lodge with a Scandinavian design.

Inside there is an open-plan kitchen and dining area, plenty of storage, a main bedroom suite with its own balcony and further bedrooms for children. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in daylight and views, and outdoor seating extends the living space.

The lodges use natural materials and strong geometric forms, so they sit comfortably in rural settings. They look and feel very different from a conventional static caravan.

For owners and operators

Torp gives guests more comfort and security than a tent, yurt or shepherd’s hut. For holiday let investors and park operators, it is a low-risk way to add quality accommodation. See also the Samlingen lodge range.
