Building remediation and building safety

We help building owners, freeholders and managing agents put right issues that affect the safety, performance and value of a building, from cladding and façades to fire safety and structural defects.

We have recently prepared a cladding remediation grant submission, and we are working on a number of projects that need approval from the Building Safety Regulator. As architects with a specialism in façade design, we understand how external walls are built, why they fail and how to fix them properly.

Remediation work we cover

  • Façade and cladding remediation: repairing or replacing unsafe or failing external wall systems.
  • Fire safety: fire stopping, compartmentation and the findings of fire risk assessments.
  • Structural repairs: issues affecting load-bearing capacity and stability.
  • Concrete repairs: including concrete cancer, where the steel reinforcement corrodes.
  • Waterproofing: water damage and water ingress.
  • Brickwork and mortar: repointing and repairs to deteriorating masonry.

How a remediation project works

  1. Initial inspection: a full assessment of the building’s condition.
  2. Diagnostic testing: finding the underlying cause, not just the symptoms.
  3. Specialist input: structural, fire and façade engineers where needed.
  4. Remediation plan: a clear scope, programme and budget, including any grant funding route.
  5. Approvals and delivery: building control and Building Safety Regulator approvals, tender and site oversight through to completion.
