Brief

Bourne Capital asked us to refurbish a 1970s office development in Waterloo for Local-London, its new serviced office and co-working brand.

The building had dated halls and offices, and needed a new identity that would appeal to small businesses and start-ups.

Response

We stripped the building back to its robust concrete frame and refurbished it in phases to a Cat A standard.

Full-height ceilings and a more open perimeter bring far more daylight into the floors. The exposed frame is kept as part of the building’s character.

For Local-London we created a youthful, playful design language. The floors combine open shared workspace with private offices and larger floor plates for growing businesses.
