Location: 6 Paris Garden, London SE1 8ND
Client: iQ Student Accommodation
Type: Extension and refurbishment
iQ wanted to reposition Paris Garden as one of the leading buildings in its portfolio. The brief was to add student rooms, improve the amenity spaces and make the building more sustainable.
The existing top-floor common room is replaced with three storeys of new student rooms and a roof terrace. Photovoltaic panels and an air source heat pump enclosure sit on the roof.
An extra storey on the Paris Garden block, with a new lift and stair core, completes a two-storey common room for study and socialising. The reception and foyer are reconfigured with a secure draught lobby.
New amenities include a mezzanine cinema room, a games room, a private dining room and accessible facilities.
The interiors combine the site’s robust, industrial character with the lightness of ballet. Strong, machine-made materials sit alongside softer forms and colours, carried through to custom fittings and furniture.
