Bamboo Hotel
Location: 121 Shuiwan Road, Gongbei District, Zhuhai, China
Type: Hotel refurbishment and re-cladding
Market: Mid-market
Brief
The client wanted to reposition an existing hotel in Zhuhai, close to the border with Macau. The design needed to keep to a mid-market budget and meet Western expectations for room layouts and service, while reflecting local culture.
Response
We used a modern European style with a white and silver palette. The existing façade is over-clad with a solar screen that reduces solar gain and gives the building a single, consistent design language.
A new entrance and drop-off point improve the sense of arrival. Inside, local dining traditions and service points sit alongside the Western room layouts.
The staff areas at the rear were designed to the same standard as the guest areas.
