Brief

CitizenM Bankside was part of the hotel operator’s global roll-out of ‘affordable luxury’. Planning permission was granted in 2010 for a change of use from offices to a hotel.

Modular construction

The hotel is built from modules with a high-quality fit-out. Rooms were delivered to site completely finished, including their external cladding, and dropped into place to create a watertight building. Work on site was limited to the corridor on each wing and the ground floor reception and café areas, around a landscaped central courtyard.
