Brief

Redefine Hotels asked us to develop a new hotel in the car park of the existing Crowne Plaza hotel, just outside Reading town centre and close to the River Thames. The site is well connected, with taxi and bus services to the railway station nearby.

Response

We designed a 132-room hotel with front-of-house space at ground floor level. Building on an operating hotel site meant keeping disruption to neighbours to a minimum, so the hotel was designed using modular construction and a prefabricated façade, reducing work on site.

The modular system is a series of interconnected steel frames, manufactured off site to approved standards and a high level of dimensional accuracy.
