Location: 73 High Street, Oxford OX1 4BE
Client: Amaris Hospitality
Type: Three-storey hotel extension using SIPS panels
Amaris Hospitality asked us to design a three-storey extension to the Mercure Oxford Eastgate hotel, on its existing car park in central Oxford.
The site is reached through an archway, which limited construction access, and noise restrictions apply during university term time. A prefabricated solution was needed.
We reviewed several MMC options. A structural insulated panel (SIPS) system proved the most cost-effective, as the panels were light enough to carry through the archway.
Because of the historic setting, we held extensive consultations with neighbours and the council. The extension follows Accor brand standards and is designed to match the existing hotel.
