We partnered with Canterbury Council to design the student residential block as a part of the master-plan for this site. The Riverside is Canterbury’s newest leisure area and overlooks the River Stour – the student block being an important part of this.
Working alongside Bouygues UK and U-Living, we were involved from the master-plan stage right through to developing the concept using their MMC system. The building is a series of interconnected blocks created with the aim of supporting the connectivity of the students.
The base block is overlooked by a top piece, which links to form the entrance and at street level, the student social spaces create a hub of activity along this entrance.
The design was created to be open plan but on a module grid to reduce transfer requirements. The development also incorporates a modular lift and staircase, and features a packaged plant room.
