Strukturera is an advanced Plug and Play MMC volumetric system where multiple manufacturers can produce the same module worldwide. It has been developed by StudioAnyo to address the concerns from the market and to address the issues facing the wide scale adoption of Modern Method of Construction. The system has been developed with the inputs from international partners including Aliaxis and Reynaers as project partners.  It contains several patented innovations.

The design liability and manufacturing inspections sits with the UK consultant team, including StudioAnyo and Adept Consulting (structure) and who will supervise both offsite and onsite construction. The pre-qualified manufacturer will produce the modules in accordance with the design specification and procedures outlined in this production specification under a manufacturing agreement.  The manufacturer may vary and there may be multiple suppliers for a large project.

Technological Advances

The system has been designed to reduce several of the concerns regarding MMC design, these include;

• Single point of failure : manufacturer/ IP remaining with manufacturer

• Unforeseen voids between modules

• Complex fire strategies and none traditional construction

The system is based on:

Concrete Lewis desk within a hot rolled steel frame with stud walls designed by a UK structural engineer, Adept Consulting Factory finished façade system : patented technology develop with Reynaer to reduce site works

No interstitial voids between internal walls : patented approach which removes unforeseen voids between units Standard walling system from a known supplier (eg British Gypsum) : no reliance on bespoke testing

Innovation 01 : Fire Line

The system has a patented fire approach removing the twin wall/ floor approach with a traditional constructed single line of fire defence, the inner wall is built as a standard wall with no reliance on the second wall for compliance.

The fire strategy is based on using standard wall construction and wall board manufacturer testing as per a traditionally built wall.   No reliance on bespoke testing and all testing is current.

This removes the issues with concealed voids, disturbed void fillers and certification of unseen fire stopping.

Innovation 02  : Factory finished facades

The system has a patented façade system developed with Raynaers

Once placed, the unit is watertight, acoustically sealed and air tight with limited site works required to complete.

Limited access is required to the front of the building (no scaffolding)

This reduces potential for onsite issues and also protects the units during transport.

Factory Finished Risers

The system has a self-sealing riser system developed with Aliaxis which means the unit can be 90% tested and completed in factory.

Once placed, the M&E systems are capable of being sealed using a patented connection system.

Structural System

Steel frame comes in two sizes for enhanced production. Designed to UK Regulations by UK consultant. Maximum interoperability to create differing apartment layouts. The design liability sits with a UK consultant who monitors production/ construction.

Traditional fire protection : no bespoke details

No requirement for fire stopping of concealed voids between units.
Each wall is a traditional construction wall using robust detailing.

Factory Complete Façade and Riser

Façade will self seal as the modules are lifted onto site with minimal site works. Building is watertight on installation. Limited access required to façade.
