The existing Mercury House was a 1970 office development used for serviced office. Through a phased refurbishment, we have stripped the interior back to the concrete frame and undertaken a full Cat A fit out including all services, toilets and office accommodation while keeping the remaining spaces in occupation. The design aims to create a character for the site using the existing building fabric, creating full height ceilings and opening up the perimeter to allow as much daylight into the building as feasible. The design also set the brand approach for the new service office concept for Local-London a new brand being developed by Bourne Capital for serviced offices and co-working spaces.
The design uses a mixed palette of materials to create differing zoned spaces to cater for the wide diversity of users and to create truly flexible letting arrangements. The spaces move from contemporary minimalist to a more eclectic style. The use of exposed soffits and services combines the various spaces into a single design. We were also involved in the rooftop bar and commercial units on the ground floor.
