Edinburgh West + Luton Airport Marriott Hotels

Contract Value: £28,000,000 (combined total)
Completion: Q4 2017 + Q4 2018

Both hotels have been designed as exemplar, fully modular hotel solutions bringing state-of-the-art construction to Scotland (160 guestrooms) and Luton Airport (250 guestrooms) and the hotel market in general. Innovations include self-sealing facades, non-scaffolded access, modular staircases, lifts and fully-modular mechanical installations, pushing innovative engineering solutions with limited onsite involvement. The Edinburgh hotel function is in support of the National Performance Centre for Sport, Oriam. The hotel F&B will be designed to support the conferencing facilities of the University, with a dedicated bank of meeting and function rooms.

Our scheme at Luton will provide conferencing facilities, a mix of lounge and dining areas, a dedicated service floor and prefabricated mechanical and electrical solutions. Working closely with Marriott, Studio Anyo are helping to progress a refreshed Courtyard look and feel; a strategy that will be applied to their global market. Our second project for Polcom Developments, this was a sister project to Edinburgh where the modular units were all manufacturer in the same batch. The only variation was the elevation which responded to the airport environment with a modern patterned approach rather than using the traditional approach as required in Edinburgh. The design responds to the modular pattern and aims to add variation to a single unit of the modules by creating a secondary array pattern that runs across the façade creating a secondary reading of the building on the repetition rather than concealing it.
