Kaldon Smith: “The skill of architecture is understanding how to take an idea from the page and deliver it in the real world, to balance science and art.”
Kaldon is another seasoned architect at our firm. He hails from Sydney, Australia which he adores very much given its vibrant city and equally beautiful beaches. This does not stop him from exploring other countries though. He has also fought and won in a Muay Thai competition.
An explorer and an athlete – truly amazing!
What are you working on now?
I like to keep myself occupied, so I am excited to share with you that I am involved in several projects. I am currently working on a development at Downs Road, Hackney, called Park House, comprising of urban luxury flats and commercial units. I am also working on a high-end project at Gate Street, Holborn for four new city pads; and a super-prime 7-bed development at Bayswater.
What do you love about architecture?
I love the combination of design and Science in architecture. At school, I topped the class in design & physics. I enjoy the technical aspect of architecture, but also appreciate how to take a concept and deliver a project. The skill of architecture is understanding how to take an idea from the page and deliver it in the real world, to balance science and art.
What’s your favourite building?

Fallingwater, a house designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, is number one on my list. It symbolises modernism and reflects the excellent use of materials.

I also love Hagia Sophia located in Istanbul, Turkey. It was the world’s largest building and an engineering marvel of its time. It is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture and is said to have “changed the history of architecture”
