Maedi Boehm: “Understandably, whilst it is a slow process, you know one day it will be materialised, and you can walk through what you have created.”
Maedi is a German native who loves the outdoors. She treasures her childhood memories in her hometown where she spent lovely summers by the lake. She then went to Berlin to study and experience the big city life. After this, Maedi migrated to Dublin, which she says is a great city full of friendly people with the perfect mix of city and rural life.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on two projects. One is Upton Lofts, a 13 units, 4 storey residential building in Newham. It is a traditional build with steel structure and brick facade. The other one is Old Sorting Office, an existing brick building which will be refurbished into a residential development.
What do you love about architecture?
I like to work on a project where I am involved from start to finish. You start with an idea, and it may take you years to work on it. Understandably, whilst it is a slow process, you know one day it will be materialised, and you can walk through what you have created.
What’s the best project you have worked on?
The best project I have worked on so far is the R school in Ireland which I was involved in from the very beginning. I did the sketches myself and saw it through to the end. I learnt a lot working on this project, and I thought it was stunning. It was also shortlisted for the RIBA awards which was an added delight.
